The circus that is the New York Jets continues to roll on as game time approaches Sunday.
Yesterday was “terrible Wednesday,” as we chronicled the anonymous Jets players ripping Tim Tebow and calling him terrible.
By mid afternoon head coach Rex Ryan had entered the fray, saying whoever made the remark was a coward for not putting their name behind it.
By this morning things had gotten even worse.
Former Jets running back Ladainian Tomlinson, without firsthand knowledge, accused Bart Scott and Antonio Cromartie of being the anonymous villains.
Mr. Can’t wait himself was not going to stand for that, and refuted that claim immediately.
Scott denied being the anonymous coward, and said if he had something to say, he’d say it.
On to Antonio Cromartie, who at first wanted no part of explaining himself, after he reportedly turned the music up to full volume when reporters tried to question him.
Cromartie eventually did speak, and according to ESPN New York, said he didn’t say it either, and that Tebow is a good teammate.
“To me, it’s stupidity.”
“You can’t sit here and say, ‘That guy’s been terrible,'” Cromartie continued. “I don’t understand why you would say that. What you see from him in practice, he’s getting better. … You can’t sit here and bad mouth a teammate because, at the end of the day, that affects everyone in the locker room, especially that guy there.”
Cromartie also refuted everything Tomlinson, and had some ether for him as well.
“I heard it, but I have no response for a retired player,” Cromartie said. “Y’all know me. If I say something, I put my name on everything I say. I really don’t care if I hurt somebody’s feelings. That’s not me. For me to sit here and talk about a teammate, nah. If I’m going to talk about a teammate, I’m going to tell him in person. I’m not going to go to the media and say I’m an anonymous-type person. I’m not that kind of cowardly person.”
This is absolutely entertaining.
Just think, tomorrow’s only Friday.
