After an abysmal ending to their season with being swept out of the playoffs, the New York Yankees finally got some good news.
The all-time saves leader has decided to play another season and will return to the Bronx.
According to Erik Boland of Newsday, Yankees GM Brian Cashman stated that Rivera plans to return next season. Tearing his ACL in May, Rivera was only able to throw 8 1/3 innings this season before the injury.
As of now, his return is not yet set in stone because of his contract situation. His current deal expired at the conclusion of this season, so he would need to agree to new terms with the Yankees to make his comeback official.
