Chargers:31
Chiefs: 13

Chargers get to 4-4 to place them in a tie situation with the Denver Broncos. While conversely, the Kansas City Chiefs fall to a woeful 1-7 under Romeo Crenell.

I’ll just skip the obvious, which would be to point out how lackluster these Thursday night games have been, and I’ll speak about some highlights. We had a relatively close game for most of the night until things went terribly wrong.

Rivers threw 18 of 20 completed passes for 220 yards, with 2 TD’s, so a gem of a game for him. But overall it was the Charger’s defense which did most of the hard work, forcing 4 turnovers which were returned for 2 touchdowns from the Charger’s inept offense.

The Chargers are in a neck and neck foot race for the AFC West. The Chargers have missed the post season 2 straight years and stand a chance to right their sinking ship. The remainder of their schedule will offer its challenges but if they continue getting elite level style of play from Rivers, and more opportunistic play by their defense we will have ourselves a true division race.

As for the Chiefs, what can one say besides: What happened? I was one of the few who was convinced that even with Matt Cassel’s foibles that the they have the kind of defense and oline that could make them upsets. Also, I’m very surprised by Romeo Crenell’s poor job coaching in his first full year, he seems clueless about how to solve their dilemma. Their future seems bleak.
