Auburn Calls Ex-Arkansas Head Coach Petrino About Coaching Job

Bobby Petrino is rebounding well from his mistress/motor cycle incident that led to his departure from Arkansas. Auburn is just the latest school to inquire about Petrino’s availability as a head coach next season.

The search committee at Auburn decided to give Petrino  a call on Monday afternoon and there is speculation that he may be called in for an in-person interview very soon.

Auburn fired their previous head coach Gene Chizik last week and they may have their new head coach in place before the beginning of bowl season.

Auburn currently rank in the top 5 recruiting classes for 2013 and continue to battle Alabama for the highest ranked athletes in the SEC.

Petrino is known for his pass heavy offenses and his ability to groom Pro-Style QBs. Auburn would be an easier recruiting ground for Petrino than Arkansas was and his teams there sent waves of athletes into the NFL.

Petrino, Arkansas State head coach Gus Malzahn, and Louisville head coach Charlie Strong are considered the finalist for the job.
