Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb spent 11 most successful seasons in Philadelphia, and whether it was fair or not, would always say the fans would miss him when he’s gone.
McNabb is now just a semi-retired spectator to the fall of the a once great NFC East power. McNabb is not gloating about the struggles the Eagles are having, but he does take some comfort in all the winning he did.
McNabb always felt he was never appreciated by Eagles fans, and on a recent edition of Daily News Live on Comcast Sports Net Philly, McNabb took a moment to let Eagles fans know he was a “winner, getting to the playoffs is not as easy as Philly fans thought it was.”
“Making it to the NFC Championship is not easy, and I think they’re starting to see that right now, that getting to the playoffs and going to the NFC Championship consistently, it’s just not that easy,” McNabb said on Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia. “There are teams right now who have winning records, like the Atlanta Falcons, they’ve done it for so many years, and they get to the playoffs and all of a sudden they’re one-and-done.”
McNabb also spoke about not winning a Super Bowl, and basically said he shouldn’t be judged on his lack of a ring.
“Myself, Dan Marino, there are a lot of quarterbacks who have gotten to that point and just haven’t been able to bring it home,” he said. “People want to make it look like you have nothing to show for it. Well we have a lot to show for it.”
Donovan McNabb did win a lot here, so I assume he’s going to take the next few weeks to pat himself on the back. He’s right and was always underappreciated here in Philadelphia.
