Mike Shanahan is like that guy who likes to argue about who the greatest of all time is in a certain sport. The guy with the bias regarding his era is going to say well I saw such and such play so he’s the best.
Mike Shanahan has been around a long time, so it had to startle everyone when he walked to the podium yesterday and according to Pro Football Talk blurted out this statement, ” no one in history has played at RG3’s level.”
Heres more of his outlook on Robert Griffin III.
“I don’t think anybody in the history of the league has played at his level,” Shanahan said. “At least over the last 40 years, when I take a look at the numbers and what he has done, I don’t think anybody has played at his level. As we’ve talked about before, he’s got a unique skill set — his ability to throw, drop back, play action, put a threat on a defense with his running ability — and he will just get better and better. He’s just scratching the surface. And the reason I say that is because he works at it.”
Now I know Shanahan is pleased that RG3 took him off the hot seat and has made him look like an offensive genius again, but here are a few of the quarterbacks Shanahan has coached.
Shanahan has had the privilege of being head coach or offensive coordinator to Joe Montana, Steve Young, and of course John Elway.
I’ll let my readers be the judge of such a statement.
