Butch Davis is epitome of what being a great coach and recruiter can get you regardless of shady character or questionable tactics at every school you’ve been at.
Patrik Nohe of the Miami Herald is reporting that Florida International University will name Davis their new head football coach sometime in the next week or so.
The move will reportedly happen after Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz pulled his name from consideration.
The 61 year old Davis currently works as a special assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and was fired as coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels after being involved in a scandal involving impermissible benefits to football players as well as academic improprieties.
