Report: The Lakers Passed on Signing Delonte West Because They Already Have Enough Drama

The NBA’s top rated reality show could have been a whole lot more interesting.  Imagine Metta World Peace, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, and Delonte West in the same locker room.  We told you about the Lakers interest in signing free agent guard Delonte West to provide some backcourt help earlier this month.  Today, RealGM.com (via Marc Stein of ESPN) is citing unnamed sources who say that the Lakers opted not to sign West out of concern for “how his presence would possibly destabilize an already complicated situation.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mike D’Antoni’s agent was that unnamed source.  D’Antoni certainly walked into a tough enough situation without Delonte West in the picture.  Look at all the unique personalities that are on this Lakers team already.  As bad as the Lakers need help at point guard, they made the right decision to pass on West.
