One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Texas Tech has responded to Tommy Tuberville’s abrupt exit with a hire that is sure to get fans in Lubbock fired up. Per ESPN.com, the Red Raiders have chosen ex-Texas Tech QB, and current Texas A&M offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kliff Kingsbury to take over the reins at Texas Tech. Kingsbury, 33, will be one of the youngest head coaches in college football next year.
While Kingsbury’s hiring is sure to be a hit in Lubbock, there will be more than a few fans in College Station wondering whether or not Johnny Manziel will be affected by losing the position coach who helped guide him to his Heisman Trophy. Either way, Kliff Kingsbury certainly owes a lot of gratitude to Manziel, Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin, and Lubbock’s favorite ex-Red Raider Tommy Tuberville for creating this opportunity.
