Mark Jackson and the Golden State Warriors have been a pleasant surprise this season as a Western Conference upstart. One glowing statistic was the Warriors being 2-0 against the Clippers this season.
The Clippers had grown tired of the losses to the Warriors this season and thumped them 115-89 Saturday night. Chris Paul in particular was fired up about the game and wanted the big win.
Paul remembers in particular how the Warriors reacted during a November win, and as he put via Pro Basketball Talk, ‘the Warriors acted as if they had just won the NBA Title.”
“The first time they beat us here, you would have thought they won the NBA Finals,” Paul [said]. “Then they beat us up there pretty handily, so we wanted to protect our home court. This was the third time we’ve played those guys at the end of a back-to-back, so we knew if we let them get out and run, we’d be in for a long night.”
These are two budding young teams who are etching out their place out west, and it will only get more heated. On a side note, Warriors coach Mark Jackson said he didn’t appreciate how the Clippers were whooping it up and laughing on their bench last night.
