Investigators claim that a fifth-grade teacher in New Jersey had a kid with a boy who she sexually assaulted for four years. On January 15, 2025, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Laura Caron, 34, of Cape May Court House, New Jersey, was charged with sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Caron is suspected of having a sexual encounter with one of her kids when she was teaching fifth grade at Middle Township Elementary School. According to investigators, the student was approximately eleven years old when the sexual assault started in 2016.
According to an affidavit of probable cause that NBC Philadelphia was able to obtain, investigators stated that the student was residing at Caron’s house at the time and occasionally woke up in Caron’s bed.
Investigators claim that until 2020, when the child was 14 or 15, Caron persisted in sexually abusing the youngster.
Laura Caron taken into custody
According to the criminal complaint, the accused victim’s father said on Facebook that Caron’s 5-year-old child resembles him and his son, which prompted the start of the sexual assault inquiry in December.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim acknowledged to family members that he is the child’s father in a phone call and text message.
Caron was taken into custody without incident on January 15, 2025, by the Special Victims Unit, Middle Township Police, and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. At her residence, investigators also carried out a search warrant issued by the court.
According to authorities, the Middle Township School District was informed about the investigation and is presently assisting law enforcement. Students, faculty, and families affected by the news can also access counseling and support services. The school district was contacted by NBC Philadelphia for comment, but they have not responded as of yet.
