The Big East continues to crumble and this time San Diego State University joins Boise State University in backing out of its commitment to join the Big East Conference in 2014.
The Big East have lost several of it’s bookend members over the past few months and began pursuit of Western teams to fill the void. The Big East was hoping to build an intercontinental conference built on their strong North Eastern basketball roots and Strong Western football programs.
This dream has all but died due to the loss of SDSU and BSU. The Big East is sure to lose their BCS automatic qualifying bid and may soon resemble a conference such as the A-10.
Conference realignment was the hot button topic in college athletics last year and the death of the Big East is just the biggest domino to fall thus far.
