New Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis spent almost 10 years in Boston as a Red Sock. Through his stint he’s won 2 World Series and has been to 3 all star games, so it comes as no shock that despite the pin stripes he now dons he still is loyal to his Boston roots.
USA Today reported on Youkilis’ reflection on his time in Boston, and his ‘no hard feelings’ attitude he now carries despite the rough ending.
“I’ll always be a Red Sox,”
“To negate all the years I played for the Boston Red Sox, and all the tradition, you look at all the stuff I have piled up at my house and to say I’d just throw it out the window, it’s not true.”
“Those were great years in Boston. One bad half-year doesn’t take away from all the great years I had there.”
Perhaps not the best way to warm up to Yankees fans, but one most commend the honesty of Youkilis for paying tribute to his former team. Youkilis is due to make $12 million dollars playing substitute at 3rd base while Arod remains out.
