The Philadelphia 76ers had a vision of a great young roster coming into this season. With the acquisition of center Andrew Bynum, the 76ers looked to be in the mix of teams in the East, jockeying for playoff position. Fast forward to now, and Andrew Bynum hasn’t played a single minute because of injuries and the 76ers are 4 games out of a playoff spot in the East.
When a team has been that disappointing trade talks will eventually start to come up. And according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Evan Turner’s name is right in the middle of them.
The Sixers, sources say, are open to a shakeup as they continue to wait for the return of Andrew Bynum to give All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday some badly needed help. And I’m told Philly, as such, is shopping (or at least making calls to gauge the value of) swingman Evan Turner.
We’ll have to see what the 76ers decide to do as the trade deadline continues to approach. Turner is having a nice season, but with only one year remaining on his rookie deal it appears he is the most valuable trade asset the 76ers have.
