Robert Kraft Worried that Agents and Lawyers could “mess up” Wes Welker deal

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft

Wes Welker has been one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets for years now. However, he is scheduled to be a free agent this season. One season after the Patriots decided not to give him a long-term deal and to place the franchise tag on Welker.

Could the Patriots franchise Welker again? It’s a possibility. As of now, both sides look to want to stay together long-term. But Patriots owner Robert Kraft let it be known that he has a concern about negotiations.

Per Tom Curran of CSN New England:

I’d love him to be around, he’s a great guy,” Kraft said of Walker.

Like I said all along, it takes two sides to make a transaction and then we have to manage the lawyers and the agents that they don’t mess it up.  I think Wes wants to be with us and we want him here so it’s just a matter of whether both sides can be intelligent.”

We’ll have to see if the two sides can come to an agreement.

I’m sure Welker loves New England, but he might have to be willing to take a hometown discount to stay there for the long haul.
