The Minnesota Timberwolves hopes of competing this season were sabotaged from the onset by injuries to their two best players Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love. They’ve rarely had a fully healthy team on the floor to see where they stand and it seems like they won’t be getting that opportunity according to Love.
In a story via Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, the 2-time All-Star, who has broken his hand twice this season, isn’t certain that a return to the court this season is in the cards for him.
“I’d say that has crossed my mind, but as far as making a decision, I haven’t made that decision yet,” he said.
“The hand is great, my body feels great. It’s going to be a big offseason. Part of coming back [yet this season], you want to give the fans something, but you also want to do something for the team and yourself. You kind of want to see what you have here when you have a full team, and we really haven’t had that yet.”
“It’s a doctor’s job to be cautious, especially when it’s the second time I’ve done it this year,” he said.
Love, obviously is conflicted because he feels like it’s on him to inject some kind of hope into the fans and to a certain degree his teammates. The best decision would probably be to shut it down and come back strong next season because the Wolves have nothing going for them this season besides the looming NBA lottery.
