Report: Eagles Will Target Dashon Goldson In Free Agency

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v San Francisco 49ers

The Philadelphia Eagles have some glaring holes in their secondary, and a hard-hitting Pro Bowl safety would sure help to correct some of the problems.

The Star Ledger is reporting that the Eagles and Chip Kelly will make 49ers safety Dashon Goldson a priority when free agency begins on Tuesday.

The addition of new vice president of player personnel Tom Gamble from the 49ers this offseason has only increased the belief around the league that Goldson could land in Philadelphia. Gamble spent the last eight seasons with San Francisco, and is now general manager Howie Roseman’s right-hand man in the personnel department.

The 28-year-old Goldson will have plenty of suitors, and he won’t be cheap.  Goldson turned down a five-year $25 million deal from San Francisco in 2011, and played last season under a $7.45 million franchise tag.

Goldson had no interest in being franchised again, and will now test the market to see his true value.  The Eagles are currently $29 million under the cap.
