We talked about this earlier. Celebrities and athletes get a lot of free and discounted stuff, because the retailers see it as free advertising.
But, when the athlete doesn’t pay, they have to go to court, to try to get their money back. That is the case with Beverly Hills retailer Scott Hill. Look at the deal he brokered with The Hump.
According to the lawsuit, Hill says he struck an interesting deal with Kris — I’ll give you a 30% discount on clothes if you introduce me to at least 2 of your NBA player friends to my store within 12 months.
The Hump takes the deal, racks up a $46k bill purchasing the suits and clothes, at the discounted rate and never delivers on bringing the NBA players to the store.
Hill wants a total of $52k in damages. Good luck with that, The Hump doesn’t even like giving out divorces, surely he isn’t going to pay for some suits.
