After an MVP season and one that saw him come up 9 yards short of the single season rushing record, Adrian Peterson has revealed that his goal going into 2013 is to rush for 2500 yards.
Via NFL.com Peterson sounded as committed than ever of achieving the goal, stating to Sports Illustrated:
“It’s not something I’m going to focus on early. I’ll let the chips fall where they may. I’ve got my bar set for 2,500 yards,…If I can go over that, the record will be shattered. But ultimately I want a couple rings. You gotta start at one.”
While there’s a cloud of doubt hovering over the Vikings Super Bowl odds, the question of whether Peterson can reach his goal of 2500 yards in a season is one he’s capable of.
Of course, first and foremost the game is one predicated off a team effort so let there be no mistaking AP is focused primarily on improving the Vikings, and 2500 yards rushing can only boost those odds.
