They say the reason that there are no more great American heavyweight boxers is because they all play football. Football provides you with a helmet, so it is understandable.
Denis Lebedev isn’t a heavyweight, he is a very good cruiserweight who once beat a washed up Roy Jones. I am pretty sure he wishes he had a helmet on when he got in the ring with Guillermo Jones on Friday Night in Moscow.
It was a hellacious fight that probably should have been stopped around the 5th-6th because of Lebedev’s eye swelling, but brutally it went on until the 11th round before Jones knocked Lebedev out.
I am not a doctor, but I did watch the Big Bang Theory last night and that doesn’t look too good. I have seen a lot of boxing matches over the years and I can never remember seeing an eye that swollen, I pray he doesn’t have permanent damage. Thanks to Larry Brown Sports for the photos.
