While the idea of Phil Jackson riding in on his white stallion to save the Toronto Raptors franchise from perpetual irrelevancy was nice to think about for their fans, it was always going to be just out of the reach of reality.
According to a report via Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca, any hope Raptors fans had of the former Los Angeles Lakers head coach, taking up a front office position with the organization, should be dashed right now.
One name that can be crossed off any lists, sources say, is Phil Jackson. The 11-time NBA champion head coach won six titles working with Leiweke in Los Angeles and the two are friends, but the likelihood of Jackson relocating to Toronto and taking on a full-time role as a club executive are considered remote at this point.
What does this new mean for current Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo? The answer to that question should be determined any day now by the recently hired CEO of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment Tim Leiweke.
