Ronda Rousey Opponent Cat Zingano Injured; Replaced by Miesha Tate

Miesha-Tate-vs-Cat-Zingano

Last we saw of Misha Tate she was on the business end of a flurry of elbows by #1 contender Cat Zingano. Zingano entered the fight as the underdog and won the opportunity to co-coach the next season of The Ultimate fighter against future opponent Ronda Rousey.

Oh, how quickly things change. During the second day of filming UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey was shocked to see long time rival Tate instead of Zingano.

It is being reported that Zingano tore her ACL & meniscus in training a week ago and will not be ready to face off in the scheduled TUF 18 Finale.

That means Tate will now be her replacement and that Rousey will once again have to stand toe-to-toe with the former Strikeforce champ.

Rousey had this to say to Yahoo! Sports about the switch:

“This is what we really wanted all along.”

“Everyone said an ‘Ultimate Fighter’ between me and Miesha would be the best. We have a personal history with each other and this is a personal show.”

“For some reason, me and Miesha are intertwined in fate like Ali and Frazier or something like that. I think people will look back at this as one of monumental rivalries and look back at this as one of those things that really cemented women’s MMA.”

These two women genuinely don’t like each other and it should make for some great television.
