WWE Looking To Recruit Cut NFL Players

World Wrestling Entertainment has had some amazing athletes during it’s time, and some of the greatest to ever participate in the squared circled, come from a football background.

The WWE would like to recreate the magic it made when they were able to turn former Miami Hurricane defensive end Dwayne Johnson, into the biggest television star there is today, “The Rock.”

Fox Sports is reporting that the great WWE announcer Jim Ross, is now working with the company’s talent-development program, in hopes of luring cut NFL players to the bright lights of the WWE.

Ross will meet on Wednesday with the NFLPA in hopes of developing a working relationship that could lead to the NFLPA funneling players whose football dreams have ended toward a WWE tryout.

“Everybody doesn’t make the 53-man roster,” Ross told co-host Jim Miller and me Tuesday night on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

“Some guys are going to be looking for work, and we’ve got some job openings. Maybe we can put the synergies of those two entities together and create something wonderful some day.”

Other current WWE superstars with backgrounds from other sports include John Cena (college football), The Undertaker (college basketball) and Brock Lesnar was an All American in wresting.

The company recently announced plans to build a 26,000 square-foot training center in Orlando, Fla., where its developmental program will be based.
