Carson Palmer Says Tyrann Mathieu Reminds Him Of Troy Polamalu

Arizona Cardinals Rookie Camp

Arizona Cardinals rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu might have made a name for himself in the last year because of his actions off the field, but he’s definitely done an a good job of impressing his new professional employer on the field.

Mathieu has been an absolute disruption for the Cardinals offense, and his disruption and playmaking abilities has Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer reminiscing about a safety from years past.

Palmer told Peter King that Mathieu reminds him of Steelers great Troy Polamalu.

“He reminds (me) ofTroy Polamalu with his closing speed,” Palmer told King. “He might not be the fastest guy out there, but he can change directions and get to the ball really fast, like Troy.”

Mathieu like Polamalu doesn’t have ideal height for an NFL safety, but they both have amazing ball skills, and football instincts.

If Mathieu can display those same traits when the regular season starts, the Cardinals will have the steal of the draft.
