The last time we saw Tim Tebow have any real success as an NFL player, it was when he threw for 316 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions, as his Broncos beat the Steelers in overtime on January 8, 2012.
So it should be no surprise that even though Tebow is still unemployed two months before the regular season is set to begin, members of that same Pittsburgh Steelers defense think that Tim Tebow can succeed in the NFL.
Several players told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Tebow should at least be somewhere competing for a job.
Larry Foote; “Why not?” he said. “Tebow, just from what I see, is an awesome guy and a talent.”
“He won some games, had some success,” Foote said. “We know it first-hand. I think he should be somewhere at least competing for a job. I think he’s earned that.”
Tim Tebow is real decent,” Taylor said. “But (his future) isn’t up to me. You gotta ask the owners and coaches and GMs. As far as being a competitor, he’s one of the best competitors I’ve seen.”
“He beat us. You have to give him credit for that,” Keisel said. “I think he’ll get another shot.”
Nice sentiments and compliments alone won’t help get Tim Tebow a job. There’s simply too much baggage that comes along with him as a backup quarterback.
Tebow either needs a shot to start somewhere with no competition, or he just needs to switch positions.
