The Yankees have been dealt another blow.
It seems like an all too familiar theme with the Yankees this year as far as injuries are concerned–get a player back only to have him get hurt again. Such was the case for Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira, Kevin Youkilis and now Derek Jeter.
Jeter will be out at least 1 week from a grade 1 strain on his right quad, which he suffered after his 3rd at bat on Thursday. If the injury hasn’t sufficiently healed after that week period the Yankees will consider replacing Jeter on the disabled list.
Yankees GM Brian Cashman stated the following, via New York Daily News:
“It could resolve after that time frame, it could take more time. I can’t rule out ultimately the disabled list,…We’re going to play it safe for the weekend and see what happens after that.”
Cashman made the bold decision to bring Jeter up early from his rehab stint in Scranton, after their rash of injuries left them short handed.
Let’s hope the Captain makes a speedy recovery and gets back in time to help his struggling team.
