For a player who is on record stating that he thinks he can be the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, this is probably a good step for the Redskins.
Per a report from Mark Maske of the Washington Post, the Redskins are “intent” on giving a contract extension to Brian Orakpo. Orakpo is entering the last year of his 5-year, $20 million deal he signed as a rookie, and it appears the team is willing to commit to the young stud for the long-term. Despite the torn pectoral muscle that sidelined him for the majority of 2012.
Orakpo had no setbacks from his surgery and is expected to be ready when the team opens training camp.
