In case you weren’t quite sure as to why many were celebrating Braun’s suspensions, this will surely clarify things.
“It hasn’t been easy. Lots of times I wanted to come out and tell the entire story, attack everybody like I’ve been attacked. My name was dragged through the mud. But at the end of the day I recognized what was best for the game of baseball.”
Ryan Braun is a particular brand of mean-spirited individual–his sense of entitlement and cowardice are truly unmatched. Above, is one of the many ‘post vindicated’ quotes Braun chirped after he avoided suspension due to a technicality. Quotes courtesy of NBC Sports:
- “If I had done this intentionally or unintentionally I’d have been the first one to admit it. I truly believe this substance never entered my body.”
- “Today is for anyone who has been wrongly accused and everyone who stood up for what’s right. It’s about future players and the game of baseball.”
- “I will continue to take the high road. We won because the truth was on my side. I was a victim of a process that completely broke down and failed as it was applied to me in this case. Today’s about making sure this never happens to anyone else who plays this game.”
- “We spoke to biochemists and scientists, and asked them how difficult it would be for someone to taint the sample. They said, if they were motivated, it would be extremely easy.”
- “Ultimately, as I sit here today, the system worked because I was innocent and I was able to prove my innocence.”
To call him a pathological liar would be far too kind, Braun knew all too well what he was doing and the fact he drug out the matter and went on a veritable smear campaign against the man who collected his urine sample is especially disgusting.
Who is the man who had his life destroyed by Ryan Braun, and could he possibly have had his life seriously impacted? The man in question is named Dino Laurenzi, and he’s kept his silence on the matter despite having his reputation shattered.
He’s a working man like any of the rest of us–including Mr. Braun, but I guess he feels the extra 0’s on his check make him a better person. In light of the positive test results Braun stated the following about Mr. Laurenzi “There were a lot of things that we learned about the collector, about the collection process, about the way that the entire thing worked, that made us very concerned and very suspicious about what could have actually happened.”
It’s one thing to lie, but it’s another thing to bring someone else down to cove up for your bad deed, and that’s exactly what Braun did. Not only that, but at the end of the press conference Braun made when he was ‘vindicated’ he mentioned he was considering ‘legal options’. Doesn’t get much more despicable than that.
Should we be surprised that we’re seeing Braun’s true colors come out? Did the money at stake corrupt Braun or is he just an awful person altogether? Either way it’s hard to shed tears for a man on a 41-56 team who has the FORTUNE of missing the rest of the season and chilling on the beach with his millions.
There was a lot more lost with his scandal than just a few millions from an already rich man. That’s for sure.
