This is one of those type of situations where everyone from a distance saw the possibility of an implosion. When that possibility is there, two things can happen.
The couple can use the fact everyone thinks they are going to fail as motivation to stay together (think Bobby and Whitney for all of those years) or the actual implosion happens.
In Ocho and Ev’s case it was the latter. Evelyn explains what happened to caused the infamous headbutt and why she isn’t responsible for Ocho not being employed by the NFL anymore.
“Me and Chad got married on the 4th of July. And we ended up divorced 41 days later. Make a long story short, found out that Chad was cheating on me, found [a] condom wrapper in the car and we got into an argument. I asked him about the wrapper and we ended up in a physical altercation.”
“I felt like everybody blamed me for him being let go from the team. ‘Oh, you ruined his career.’ And it was hard for me ’cause I know that I didn’t do anything wrong that day. I need to protect myself but you know, I need to do it in the best way that I can. I knew that we would go through ups and downs but not anything of that nature. I didn’t think that I would end up with six stitches on my forehead almost two months after we got married.”
There is definitely a gray area, because Chad was released because of the incident, so you can say his failed marriage is the reason he isn’t in the league now.
Is that Evelyn or Chad’s fault? That is up for you to decide, but the lesson to be learned here is that one wrong move can lead to a downward spiral you can never get out of.
