A former University of Texas at El Paso guard basketball player was arrested Thursday on marijuana charges in Utah after law enforcement officials grew concerned over his behavior, and threats of being an “Islamist jihadist.”
32-year-old Chris Craig was a member of the Miners’ 2004 NCAA tournament team who shot 41.6% from 3-point land during his two years in El Paso.
Craig is now described as a weird loner who has traveled to Egypt and Amsterdam recently.
had come to the attention of the FBI and law enforcement agencies in several Western states after allegedly making threats last month against Catholic and Mormon churches in Arizona and Colorado.
Craig had spent his post UTEP days as a coach, first overseas in Ireland, Mexico and Switzerland and then at schools in Utah, Colorado and Texas.
