Indiana gave Miami all they could handle in the Conference Finals this past postseason. The Heat would eventually go on to repeat as NBA Champions. It was obviously a tough way for Indiana’s season to end but on the flip side they gained confidence that should carry over into the new season.
The one burning question for the Pacers has always been who will be the go-to-guy? Reigning Most Improved Player of the Year Paul George thinks he’s the answer.
“This whole summer, I really trained being the go-to guy and the lead guy for our team. Last year, we still had Danny and did not know the results (of Granger’s injury) coming into the year. I had a role that I had kind of prepared for and trained for. This year, it was more about training to be the No. 1 guy and lead this team.”
Danny Granger is the one guy that could either make this work or make it a failure. He has to understand that it’s Paul George team now.
