AAC
1: The amount of games the conference won this week after going 1-6 over the weekend. New rule for the column, if your conference only wins one game then only that team gets talked about. 59: The amount of points put up by Houston behind 312 passing yards by John O’Korn.
ACC
129: Rushing yards allowed by Virginia Tech against GT. The Hokies had another strong defensive performance and are quietly 4-1 with the only loss coming to #1 Alabama. 4: Touchdowns to go with 330 yards passing for “Famous” Jameis Winston. The ‘Noles needed every bit of those stats to hold off BC who played them tough. 100: Amount of career TDs for Clemson QB Tajh Boyd after he threw a 75 yard TD pass in a rout of Wake Forest.
Big 12
11: Oklahoma State’s ranking before being upset by West Virginia 30-21. West Virginia fans went on to riot and push cars over in celebration. 450: Total yards put up on Notre Dame by Oklahoma. Blake Bell has been steady since taking over the starting QB job. Don’t look now but the Sooners are 4-0 and are playing much better defense. 4: Times TCU picked off SMU QB Garrett Gilbert. Gilbert was a heralded recruit coming out of High School that went to Texas so this is nothing to sneeze at. TCU defense rose to the occasion again.
Big 10
601: Total yards by Illinois this week vs Miami (OH). As the Illini get ready for their game with Nebraska this week, they can expect to put up similar numbers since the Huskers can’t stop a nose bleed. 55: Points given up by Purdue to Northern Illinois. I know Jordan Lynch is good for NIU but what in the name of Joe Tiller is going on in West Lafayette? 17: Wins in a row for Ohio State. The score makes this game look closer than it was but the Buckeyes controlled it for the majority of the game. They now control their own destiny as they try to get to the National Championship.
Pac 12
62: Points scored by Arizona State against USC. Those 62 points along with a loss to Washington State led to Lane Kiffin being fired before even leaving the airport early Sunday morning. ASU is actually a pretty good team though and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them end in the top 25. 41-3: That was the first half run Oregon went on in a downpour up in Eugene. The Ducks offense is clicking on all cylinders right now. 12: Victories in a row for Stanford who routed Washington State 55-17. That collision course that Oregon and Stanford are on is looking really good.
SEC
85: Combined points in the LSU-Georgia game that UGA won 44-41. The game of the weekend had both QBs dueling it out in another example of SEC defense gone wrong. The league is more fun when the offenses are putting up points anyway. 7: Amount of points Tennessee beat South Alabama by. Its going to be a long season in Knoxville. 0: Remember when Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace said they could put points on Bama? Bama doesn’t either since they shut them out. 27: Florida got its 27th win in a row over Kentucky. That has to suck.
