Jermaine Green, a former pro football player, was shot by police on Wednesday after police arrived at a home and found him holding a woman at knifepoint.
Officers were called to the home in Daytona Beach, Florida after a reported disturbance, reported WFTV .
When they arrived, they found Green, 32, holding a knife to a woman.
Green refused to put the knife down, instead raising it as if he was going to stab the woman, Katrina Johnson.
Officers fired several shots and hit both Green and Johnson.
Friends and family believe that Green who has battled with substance abuse was fighting with Katrina Johnson over money and that prompted the attack.
