Things are ugly for the Houston Astros. They are 51-99 which is the worst in the league and don’t have much to be excited about. Now they are getting less viewers than out of market WNBA games according to Deadspin:
According to a source with access to the detailed Nielsen figures, the Astros game drew a total of 48,800 households locally over the three-plus hour broadcast. A Sky-Lynx WNBA game on NBA TV, which went head-to-head with the Astros game for more than two hours, was viewed by a total of 49,800 households in the Houston market.
To be fair, the Chicago Sky have Elena Delle Donne who could win rookie of the year in the WNBA and they have a really good team. However, it has to feel like a swift kick in the man region to find this out for the Astros.
It’s not all bad for the Astros through because they get paid $80 million a year by CSN Houston to broadcast those games to very few people.
