Anquan Boldin Thinks Thursday Night Games Hurt Player Safety

Boldin

It’s not just fans who think Thursday night games can be too much. 49ers WR Anquan Bolin believes that if the league really cares about player safety, then why does every team have to have a Thursday night game? Here is what he had to say to the San Jose Mercury News:

“But there are some things that just don’t make sense to me,” Boldin said. “I mean if you’re so concerned about player safety then why do you have every team in the league playing on Thursday night when they just competed on a Sunday, knowing how difficult it is for guys to get back to being healthy after playing on Sunday? Guys really don’t feel like they’re back till probably Thursday or Friday to prepare for that next week.”

“The league can say they’re doing things to protect guys, but I’m not one of the guys buying it,” Boldin said.

Boldin has a point. He is also a veteran in the league who really needs and values his recovery time. Cardinals WR also made a joke recently on Twitter about waking up on Monday and feeling like it’s Wednesday because of the shortened week for his team this week. I hope the league reconsiders at least going back to starting Thursday night games to later in the season, if not eliminating them all together.
