Tyreke Evans took the money and fled Sacramento for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Evans joins a crowded back court with Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon, and Austin Rivers. Evans versatility as a wing player will help his cause, but the question has always remained how he’ll fit in, and where will the minutes come from.
Evans spoke with Hoops Hype recently, and repeated his sentiments about not caring if he started or came off the bench. The brash guard from Chester, PA said that he’d like to assume a Manu Ginobili type role for the Pelicans.
Well, you’ve said you’d be OK if you started the season off the bench. What responsibilities would you like to have if that’s the case? What kind of role?
TE: A Manu Ginobili kind of role. Stepping on the court, being aggressive, helping run the team and staying there at the end if the game is on the line. Something like the Spurs did with Ginobili.
I like the comparison and it’s a role that would allow Tyreke to Flourish, and provide the aggressive offensive role he desires to have.
