Mitch McGary might regret going back to school.
McGary spurned the NBA and the millions he could have made after his breakout performance in the NCAA tournament, and decided to return to Ann Arbor.
ESPN.com is reporting McGary will miss the season opener against UMass-Lowell with a lower back injury.
“He’s improving every day, making great improvements in everything he can do,” coach John Beilein told WTKA-AM in Ann Arbor. “No, he won’t (be available Friday).”
The 6-foot-10 preseason All American has sat out the entire preseason and has no timetable for a return. Sources indicate that his health has improved over the past month, but the staff is being cautious in hopes that he won’t miss a significant portion of the season.
