This was supposed to be Rudy Gay’s banner season in Toronto, instead it’s been somewhat of a nightmare.
Gay is averaging 19 points a game, but is shooting 37.5 percent so far this season, taking 18.9 shots a game to get there. Tuesday night he was 3-of-12 from the floor with seven turnovers against the Nets, and was so disappointed, that he tried to do something about it.
According to the Toronto Sun, Gay put up hundreds of jump shots after that loss, hoping to shoot his way out the slump.
Gay got up 500 shots following Tuesday’s last-second loss to Brooklyn.
“You just have to get back into the gym and get back to the basics. The only thing I could do after that game was to go out and shoot some jump shots. Get that out of my head and work on my game,” Gay explained after a spirited practice Thursday.
Hopefully Gay got up some mid-range shots as well.
