Many have called last week’s exciting Iron Bowl the best college football game ever, so it’s natural that the ball that brought down the Bama dynasty would be worth a pretty penny.
Bloomberg reports that the game-winning football is worth $50,000 now, but that figure could double if Auburn goes on to win the National Championship.
Brandon Steiner, founder of Steiner Sports Marketing, in a telephone interview said the ball could be worth $100,000 if the Tigers win the national title. Auburn is third in the Bowl Championship Series rankings behind Florida State and Ohio State.
Steiner said the ball would be worth about $50,000 right now.
“It’s one of the great balls from one of the great games,” he said.
The Auburn equipment manager confirmed that the athletic department is in possession of the football.
