Before being signed to the Cowboys roster this week, Jon Kitna was teaching high school Math and coaching the football team at his alma mater in Tacoma, Washington. This has been Kitna’s job since he retired from the NFL in 2011. According to NBC Sports, Kitna is doing what anyone who gets an unexpected chance at a hefty paycheck and donating his game check to the high school where he works, Lincoln High School.
Kitna would be Kyle Orton’s backup QB if Tony Romo is unable to play in Sunday’s game against the Eagles and would earn a check of $55,294 for one week of work. If the Cowboys lose against the Eagles Sunday with Orton at the helm, Kitna will collect his check and be back in Tacoma for the first day of school in 2014.
