Sooner fans can reportedly breathe easier. The Cleveland Browns are said to have interviewed three NFL assistants and want to interview one college coach but that coach will not be Bob Stoops according to ESPN:
A league source close to the Browns confirmed that Stoops has never been on Cleveland’s radar and that the team will not interview the longtime Oklahoma coach.
The Browns have interviewed three NFL assistants and have asked permission to interview one college coach as they search for a replacement for Rob Chudzinski.
Stoops is an Ohio native so it was natural that he would be linked to the Browns opening. It didn’t help speculation when he was asked about the job after the Sugar Bowl and dropped a “you never know.”
It looks like “big game Bob” will stay in Norman to try and bring a title back home.
