Fan Sues NFL Over Super Bowl Ticket Prices

SB, Luck

Im sure we all thought about doing this, maybe not suing but making the NFL realize that not everyone has the luxury of spending a$1,000’s of dollars on a single ticket.

Via ESPN, a New Jersey man has sued the NFL accusing them of over pricing the average fan out of the Super Bowl.

Josh Finkelman, of New Brunswick, says the NFL made only 1 percent of all tickets available to the public for purchase at face value. He says that means most fans must buy their tickets on the secondary market, where sellers can command thousands of dollars.

Finkelman’s lawsuit was filed Monday in federal court in Newark. It claims the NFL is violating the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act.

Lawyer Bruce Nagel says the lawsuit is seeking hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.

The NFL says it is reviewing the suit. It notes that three-quarters of the game’s tickets are given to teams, which sell them at face value to fans who win lotteries.

Super Bowl XLVIII is set for Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Either Finkleman just got smart about the law and wants money or he’s genuinely looking out for the common fan. Now personally, I believe the former than latter because unless hes going to share those hundred of millions of dollars in damages with the other average fans, what he is asking for is a bit excessive. Maybe a lifetime of free Superbowl tickets are a bit more sensible (kind of)  but don’t be overly selfish when if you truly are a fan you  just want to watch a good game of football and the opportunity for it to be more accessible to the average fan.
