Sixteen juveniles have been rescued when the FBI derailed a child sex trafficking operation centered around the Super Bowl according to CBS Sports. The operation included the arrests of more than 45 pimps, who claim that they all came to this year’s Super Bowl in New Jersey “for the purpose of prostituting women and children.”

Assistant director of the FBI’s Criminal Investigation Division Ron Hosko released a statement where he said that his organization anticipated an increase in human trafficking surrounding the Super Bowl.

“High-profile special events, which draw large crowds, have become lucrative opportunities for child prostitution criminal enterprises.”

Sadly the sex workers ranged in age from 13 to 17 years old. The FBI is now providing food, shelter, counseling and medical care to the children, while attempting to reconnect them with their families.
