I understand what Herman Edwards was trying to say, but it came out totally wrong and frankly it was painful to watch.
This is what happens when you try to push a story too hard and possibly start a narrative that isn’t needed.
Michael Sam (Herm incorrectly calls him Michael Sams) is a gay, but can he rush the passer in the league? That is all that matters to most fans and what should matter to NFL teams. The NFL teams that care about anything else are probably the teams who are currently failing in the league.
Being gay isn’t baggage or a criminal offense, what Herm was trying to say it could be seen as a distraction, but once again if he can play, I doubt anyone on the team will care that much. Check out the video courtesy of Deadspin.
