Brazil Wants to Shoot Down Planes Flying Over World Cup

Brazil Declares No Fly Zone

Brazil is not playing around when it comes to them hosting the World Cup. They have enforced a no-fly zone within “four nautical mile radius” of the twelve World Cup stadiums. They currently have a law stating that unresponsive planes cannot be shot down over populated areas. However, Brazil is hoping and looking to change that.

As the law currently stands, unresponsive planes cannot be shot down over populated areas, but the Brazilian Air Force is hoping to change that. Anti-aircraft guns are being deployed around stadiums, and the Air Force wants permission to effectively defend the air space around the stadiums should the need arise, said Air Force Brigadier Antoio Carlos Egito.
