Earlier this week Manhattan’s coach Steve Masiello was hired as the new head coach of the University of South Florida. That deal fell through after it was discovered Massielo did not actually graduate from Kentucky as was stated on his resume.
This opened the door for UNLV’s head coach Dave Rice who was offered the same deal as Masiello, making $1.2 million a year as USF’s head basketball coach according to CBS Sports.
Rice has compiled a record of 70-31 in his three years as the head coach of the Rebels. He has not made a decision yet but sources say with the new recruiting class UNLV has coming in next year which includes three top prospects: Rashad Vaughn, Goodluck Okonoboh and Dwayne Morgan, that UNLV might be willing to pay Rice to stay.
