The 2014 NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and there is still no clear answer on what the Houston Texans will do with the number one overall pick.
While there have been rumors that Houston is interested in everyone from Jadaveon Clowney to Johnny Manziel, recent reports seem to indicate that the Texans are likely to trade the pick. ESPN’s Ed Werder reported that most teams are expecting Houston to move the pick rather than select a player for themselves.
Teams expect Texans to trade down, maybe to Falcons at 6. @SeniorBowlPhil says rookie pay scale makes taking Clowney, then trading tough.

This idea is something that was also echoed by CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, who agreed that the Falcons are likely to move up for a chance to draft Clowney.
There are no shortage of execs in the league who believe the Texans best odds of trading out of 1st overall is w/ Atlanta to get Clowney

The Falcons already hosted Jadeveon Clowney and will also meet with him and do a few drills on S. Carolina campus on Friday…

It will be interesting to see what Houston actually does with the pick. This could all be a smokescreen from the franchise distracting people from another trade they may be working on.
