It’s been a rough season for the Los Angeles Lakers. Usually a team with title hopes, the Lakers have watched player after player after player after player go down with injury this season. Just look at the injury report heading into tonight’s game.
That’s eight out 14 players on the entire roster. Yikes.
On top of the injuries, the Lakers have had to deal with rumors about the fate of beleaguered head coach Mike D’Antoni all season long. Some say the team is leaning towards firing him, some say L.A. might actually retain him, others are saying John Calipari is coming to take D’Antoni’s spot next season.
Depending on who you ask, blame can either be placed on D’Antoni himself, or on the Lakersr bad luck since he has taken control of the team. If you ask oft-injured point guard Steve Nash, the blame can’t be placed on D’Antoni. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Nash believes no coach could overcome these injuries.

Nash may have a point. With the rash of injuries this team has faced, no sane person could legitimately expect them to be a playoff team, especially in a loaded Western Conference. But D’Antoni has not fit since he took the helm, and you can’t deny that his system is not built for a team that will likely be centered around Kobe Bryant.
It will be interesting to see what this team does come the off-season. What do you guys think? Should the Lakers let D’Antoni go? Sound off in comments or hit me up on Twitter and let me know!
