In an earlier post, Auburn recognized two National Championships in 1957 and 2010. However, their Athletic Director Jay Jacobs wanted to claim four additional titles (1913, 1983, 1993 and 2004).
Just today, Auburn Athletics’ official website has added three additional titles to their accolades list.
According to Deadspin, the NCAA does not recognize national champions from Division IA/FBS. Interesting to see that Auburn claimed the 1993 title when they were ineligible for postseason play, even though they went undefeated.
Many are disagreeing with the 1993 “title”
From Auburn’s Web site: “The NCAA recognizes Auburn as National Champions in 2010, 1993…” Yo, Auburn, the NCAA doesn’t crown national titles

I swear we’ve had this “Auburn’s claiming WHICH national titles?!?!?!” discussion before. But yeah, 1993 shouldn’t be claimed. — Barrett Sallee (@BarrettSallee) May 16, 2014
You can have part of the 1983 title, Auburn. But 1993 is ridiculous http://t.co/6CMqfWyxbD

Auburn’s current coach, who was a redshirt freshman during the 1993 season, defended the reasoning for why they deserve the 1993 title.
@TomahawkNation Was the only undefeated team in the nation that year. Not so far fetched when you think about it. — DC (@CoachDCraig) May 16, 2014
