B1G Baseball Tournament Day 4 Recap

B1G Tournament Day 4

Michigan vs Nebraska

The home state Huskers drew the unlucky break of playing in the 9am game against Michigan, however the alarm clocks were working well as 12,011 fans came out. That was a new single day B1G tournament record. Nebraska starter and Omaha native Kyle Kubat threw a gem with the his longest outing of his career. He went 8 2/3 innings giving up 1 run on just 3 hits. It was so clutch for him to go so deep in the game to save other arms in a double elimination format. The bottom of the fourth started with back to back walks by the Wolverines starting pitcher Keith Lehmann, then Tanner Lubach came through with a clutch 2 out RBI single in. The game really got put away in the big 6th inning, where the Huskers drew 3 bases loaded walks and scored 5 runs on 4 hits. Nebraska moves on to face Indiana in a rematch of last year’s championship game Sunday at 1pm. Check the game highlights below.

Indiana vs Michigan State

This one was a well played game with each team going back and forth. It all started when Michigan St. jumped out to a 2-0 lead in bottom of the first inning but IU fought right back with 2 runs of their own. Both pitchers were settled in for the most part after that. Things were evenly played up until the top of the ninth when the Hoosiers scratched out 3 runs, capped off by a run off a wild pitch while MSU was trying to execute and intentional walk. After the 7-4 win, the top seeded Hoosier will go on to face the home state Huskers in a rematch of last years conference championship game. The game will be played at 1pm CT on Big Ten Network.
